The aggregate score of both games decides the winner.

Ties are resolved with: 1) the
“away goals double value” rule; 2) a 30 minutes extra-time after regulation;
3) a penalty shoot-out (pk).

this body declared themselves
incompetent to judge this bribery
accusation. As a result, Anderlecht

En el primer asalto de la final de la Copa de la UEFA, el Tottenham Hotspur obtuvo un valioso empate a uno en el terreno del Anderlecht, actual campeón del torneo. Los Spurs fueron a Bruselas a hacer su partido, sin concesiones al rival y con un fuerte sistema de contención en el centro del campo. Durante toda la primera mitad aguantaron las acometidas en tromba de los belgas, que pusieron cerco a la portería de Parks, aunque la defensa inglesa siempre dio la sensación de controlar estos ataques. En la segunda parte se adelantó el Tottenham al rematar Miller de cabeza un saque de esquina lanzado por Hazard. Desde ese momento, los ingleses se dedicaron a conservar su ventaja tejiendo una tupida red en el centro del campo que los belgas se veían incapaces de superar, tras el derroche físico de la primera mitad. A falta de cinco minutos para la conclusión del partido, Olsen aprovechó un rechace de Parks a tiro de Vercauteren para lograr el empate definitivo, que otorga una ligera ventaja al Tottenham de cara al encuentro de vuelta. |

DEL PARTIDO—VUELTA (GAME SUMMARY—SECOND LEG) |
|
En un partido
de gran calidad, el Tottenham Hotspur conquistó
la Copa de la UEFA al vencer en la tanda de penaltis
al Anderlecht. Tras un primer tiempo igualado,
el equipo belga comenzó la segunda mitad jugando
mejor que sus rivales, con más calma, y fruto
de ello fue el gol de Czerniatynski con el que
se adelantó en el marcador. Burkinshaw hizo entonces
dos cambios en su equipo, introduciendo en el
campo a Ardiles y Dick, que dieron mayor profundidad
al juego de ataque del Tottenham. A seis minutos
de la conclusión, Roberts logró empatar el partido
y forzar una prórroga que, sin embargo, no vino
a resolver nada, por lo que hubo de recurrirse
a los lanzamientos desde el punto de penalti,
en donde el Anderlecht falló en dos ocasiones
por sólo una de los Spurs. |
