El equipo “cenicienta”
de la Copa de la UEFA, IFK Göteborg, logró
imponerse por 1-0 en el primer partido de la final
al potente Hamburgo alemán, a quien no sólo tuteó
sino que acosó insistentemente a lo largo de todo
el encuentro. Bajo una fuerte y pertinaz lluvia,
los suecos llevaron el mando del partido desde
el comienzo y ya en los primeros minutos Tord
Holmgren marró una clara ocasión de gol. Para
mayor desgracia, la gran estrella local, Torbjörn
Nilsson, se lesionó a los nueve minutos tras una
fuerte entrada de Jakobs, y tuvo que ser atendido
en la banda durante más de diez minutos hasta
que Eriksson se decidió a sustituirlo. También
por lesión, otro de los delanteros del IFK, Tommy
Holmgren, aguantó desde el minuto 10 como una
figura decorativa y fue sustituido tras el descanso.
Por su parte el Hamburgo, pese a contar en sus
filas con varios internacionales alemanes, apenas
demostró nada sobre el terreno de juego, únicamente
una gran preparación física, dureza defensiva
y solidez en su línea de cobertura. En la segunda mitad se vio a un IFK que, lejos de desanimarse por lo infructuoso de sus ataques y las lesiones de sus delanteros titulares, se volcó materialmente sobre la portería germana, muy bien defendida por un Hamburgo que renunció al ataque. Finalmente, la vocación ofensiva de los suecos encontró su recompensa a falta de tan sólo tres minutos para el final, cuando Tord Holmgren aprovechó un buen pase de Hysén y sorprendió a un Stein descolocado. Victoria justa y merecida del IFK Göteborg que se mantiene invicto en la competición. |

DEL PARTIDO—VUELTA (GAME SUMMARY—SECOND LEG) |

El IFK Göteborg
dio la gran sorpresa en la final de la Copa de
la UEFA y se impuso contra todo pronóstico al
poderoso Hamburgo, al que todas las apuestas daban
como favorito antes de comenzar la final. Tras
la agónica victoria en el partido de ida disputado
en Göteborg, el equipo blanquiazul volvió
a vencer a los alemanes en su propio estadio y
además lo hizo con gran autoridad. El Hamburgo,
que venía de golear al Werder Bremen el sábado
pasado y prácticamente había decidido el título
de la Bundesliga a su favor, se vio superado en
todo momento por el IFK, en cuyas filas militan
varios jugadores aficionados. A partir del segundo
gol visitante, los desilusionados espectadores
alemanes empezaron a desfilar por los graderíos
del Volksparkstadion. Los delanteros del Hamburgo
no tuvieron su noche, en particular un desconocido
Horst Hrubesch, que apenas inquietó la meta sueca
durante todo el partido. Lo más destacable de
la delantera local fue un disparo al poste de
Hartwig. En la segunda mitad, el IFK se aprovechó
del desconcierto y la impotencia del Hamburgo
para sentenciar el partido con rápidos y peligrosos
contraataques. Al final, triunfo claro y meritorio
del IFK Göteborg, que consigue de esta manera
inaugurar el palmarés de títulos continentales
para el fútbol sueco. |
