COMPETITION SYSTEM

·          33 teams (domestic champions plus title holder) playing knock-out rounds on a home and away basis.  The aggregate score of both games decides the winner.

·          Ties are resolved with: 1) the “away goals double value” rule; 2) a 30 minutes extra time after regulation; 3) a penalty shoot-out (pk).

·          A final game is played at a predetermined venue.

RESUMEN DEL PARTIDO (GAME SUMMARY)

 

El Ajax de Amsterdam se ha proclamado campeón de Europa por segundo año consecutivo con un fútbol “total” de ataque que se ha impuesto al catenaccio del Inter. Los italianos no dieron en ningún momento sensación de ir a por el partido, y se limitaron a contener los ataques holandeses en busca de un veloz contraataque que pudiera sorprender. Por su parte, el Ajax buscó la victoria desde el principio, con un fútbol de marcado carácter ofensivo que nacía desde la defensa, buscaba los extremos (con un fantástico Keizer, escurridizo y potente a la vez), que tenía en Cruijff a un peligro constante en ataque y en el que incluso los centrocampistas buscaban el gol con tiros lejanos. Un verdadero juego de equipo, en el sentido más amplio del término.

 

El primer tiempo fue de ataque constante del Ajax frente a una cerradísima defensa interista, que más parecía un frontón. Los ajacied no decayeron en su ánimo durante los primeros cuarenta y cinco minutos, pese a que no llegaron a materializar sus ocasiones (un tiro al poste y dos cuasigoles). Cuando al comienzo de la segunda mitad los holandeses lograron por fin marcar el gol que andaban buscando (en un remate a puerta vacía de Cruijff tras fallo del portero y la defensa italianos), el Inter estiró su juego en busca del empate y esto por fin produjo unos minutos de partido de juego competido y bidireccional. En esta tesitura, la defensa del Ajax cometió algunos errores de nervios y colocación, quizá por la falta de trabajo durante todos los minutos anteriores. Paradójicamente, en esta fase de juego atacante del Inter, los italianos defendieron mejor su portería que durante la primera mitad de partido. Pero no tardó demasiado el equipo holandés en coger de nuevo el mando del encuentro, aunque ya no con tanto agobio como en el primer tiempo, y de esta forma pasó a controlar la última fase del partido. El segundo gol del Ajax (logrado nuevamente por Cruijff al rematar de cabeza una falta sacada por Keizer) vino a sentenciar la final, por el escaso peligro que llevaban los ataques italianos.
