* The Eurobasket qualification tournament held in Monaco doubled as Nations Cup “Paul Geist” qualifying Group A (Group B in Strasbourg included Italy, Poland, FRG and France “B”, with the Final Stage to be held in Paris). Portugal, originally included in the qualification tournament for the European Championship, was a late withdrawal, and the French organizers replaced it in the already scheduled games by the local club AS Monaco. These unofficial matches had the following score: France - AS Monaco (72-55); Spain - AS Monaco (75-55); Switzerland - AS Monaco (81-79). |
