RESUMEN (SUMMARY)

Ante los cerca de 65.000 espectadores que abarrotaban las gradas del Estadio Panateniense de mármol blanco (con otros 10.000 en los alrededores del coliseo, escuchando el partido por la radio), el AEK se proclamó campeón de la segunda edición de la Recopa de Europa al derrotar al Slavia de Praga por 89 a 82. La primera mitad fue de claro dominio del conjunto griego, que se distanció desde el primer momento en el marcador (14-7, min. 6) y que logró su máxima diferencia coincidiendo con el descanso (47-38). El Slavia reaccionó en la segunda mitad y consiguió darle la vuelta al marcador (58-60, min. 29). Pese a la eliminación por personales del base Zoupas, Amerikanos y Trontzos asumieron la responsabilidad anotadora en el AEK, que a falta de dos minutos logró una ventaja tranquilizadora (80-72) que permitió al conjunto de Atenas celebrar la victoria ante un público entregado.
